Do the Energy Bricks need to be core filled with concrete?

In short, No! There is no requirement to core fill the Energy Bricks.

Many people assume that the Energy Bricks need to be core filled with concrete when they see that the installation method requires a 12mm threaded rod through the centre core of the bricks, at spacing’s of 600mm.

Because the Energy Bricks are made from very high density PIR foam, concrete is not required to make the wall stable. This is vastly different when compared to other light weight foam bricks on the market.

The installation method requires the top plate to be screwed down using the threaded rod. This pulls all the bricks together, and gives the wall its’ structural integrity.
